Ancient Music
The NORDIC LIGHTS FESTIVAL brings together the four most important baroque orchestras in Northern Europe, Barokkanerne (Norway), Concerto Copenhagen (Denmark), Drottningholms Barockensemble (Sweden), Finnish Baroque Orchestra (Finland) and the Freiburger Barockorchester on two evenings and at two very different venues for an inspiring celebration of music in midsummer Berlin.
The varied program not only demonstrates the musical richness of Northern and Central Europe, but also the almost unlimited possibilities of interpretation for original sound instrumentation. Soloists include bass-baritone Jakob Bloch Jespersen, violin and Hardanger fiddle virtuoso Ragnhild Hemsing and "innovator on the guitar" Petri Kumela.

The Norwegian violinist Ragnhild Hemsing can be seen in Berlin on July 1st in the Säälchen on the Hardanger fiddle together with Barokkanerne. Since her childhood, she has been deeply connected to the rich folk tradition of her home country and in recent years has ensured that the traditional instrument is heard beyond the borders of Norway and has an ever-growing fan base.
