Andrea Kerner: Since their foundation, the four orchestras of the Nordic Baroque Scene have already realized several cooperation projects in their home countries, working together in an incredibly creative and successful way. The desire to export the cultural heritage of the Nordic Baroque orchestras as a joint festival was the logical next step. But of course this requires a structure that takes care of everything on site, from financing to ticket sales. This is where the non-profit organization conc.arts berlin gUG came into play, with which we already had contact through the Finnish Baroque Orchestra. The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra was the first non-Scandinavian partner of the NBS - and the story continues to unfold.
Nordic - inspiring - cross-border!
Good question - essentially not much different, the basic idea would certainly remain the same. But perhaps it would extend over more days so that the orchestras would have even more opportunities to showcase their different profiles and activities. All those involved have developed an incredibly diverse range of musical experiences in their home countries, which could certainly be realized in Berlin with a little more time and money.
My personal dream would be a midnight concert of all five orchestras on a boat on the Spree with fireworks in the colors of the Northern Lights!
To two moments: the first and the last. When all the artists involved come together for the first time, get to know each other and rehearse together, there is a special, joyful tension in the air. It's inspiring, and new ideas continue to emerge. And, of course, we look forward to the final moment when the last note has faded away and we can look (toi-toi-toi) at all the happy faces! And to the moment after the last moment, when we toast to a wonderful time together!
Preferably with the feeling that four hours can feel like four minutes! Above all, they should feel happy and inspired because they have learned something new, because the beauty of the wonderful repertoire, our joy and that of the artists has been transmitted.
