Tanja Tetzlaff is particularly interested in going beyond classical music performance, incorporating other art forms and engaging with current events, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician.
In April 2021, she was the first recipient of the highly endowed Glenn Gould Bach Fellowship from the city of Weimar. The resulting film "Suites for a Wounded World" relates Bach's famous cello suites to nature and issues of climate change and creates a touching, personal examination of the question of the state in which we are handing over our world to future generations. The film premiered in Weimar in April 2023, further information and screening dates can be found here.
For "Suites For A Suffering World", Tanja Tetzlaff traveled with her instrument to places in Europe where climate change is already a reality and has visibly inflicted sensitive wounds. In the midst of sometimes bizarre scenery, she interprets the Cello Suites No. 4-6 by Johann Sebastian Bach, contrasted by works composed especially for her by Thorsten Encke.
The film was awarded the OPUS Klassik 2023 in the "Innovation Award for Sustainability" category.
